- NAME: Mayor Hamish Ellis
- CULTURE: British (Scottish)
- AGE: 42
- BIO: The son of Scottish migrants, Ellis set out west with many other young men during a gold rush in the 1860s. He had moderate success, but constantly stayed on the move in search of better prospects. Typically a loner, he began mining in the wild Dakota Territory. He struck gold along a narrow creek and immediately purchased the claim. Others soon followed and dammed the creek, dredging the soil and beginning a gold rush of their own. Ellis himself oversaw and organized the digs, and when buildings rose in the newly declared Red Gulch he was unanimously proclaimed its mayor. Over the following years he vigorously oversaw the city’s expansion and spread its reputation as a gold-seeker’s paradise. Recently the gold in the hills all but dried up. To keep pioneers in the city and invite in more Ellis has employed all manner of tactics, most often comprised of promotions and events. Now he has called for a poker tournament with stakes too high for many folks to pass up.
Hamish Ellis is a tall and robust Scot with a passion as thick as his accent. He is known for his loud laugh and dirty humor, but few would question his morals. He is a hard worker, and expects anyone associated with him to be just as devoted to their labors.
